About

The Sivas Gardaşlık Festival is a meaningful event organized by the Sivas Governor’s Office and the Sivas Municipality with the aim of bringing together people from Sivas living all over the world and strengthening feelings of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood.

Its goals are to preserve the city’s cultural heritage, pass it on to future generations, strengthen the sense of identity as a native of Sivas, and promote the culture of “gardaşlık.” The events, designed to help fellow citizens from both within and outside the country ease their homesickness, last 2 to 3 days.

A rich and colorful program of events is organized as part of the festival.

Brotherhood Parade: A procession featuring the participation of dignitaries and the general public.

Brotherhood Dance: A magnificent “Sivas Ağırlaması” dance, typically performed by 1,058 people simultaneously to the accompaniment of drums and zurnas, in reference to Sivas’s license plate code.

Concerts: Folk concerts featuring local and national artists.

Exhibitions and Promotions: Exhibitions of old photographs of Sivas, district promotional booths, and handicraft demonstrations.

Social Events: The “Gan Gardaşım” blood drive, street games, talks, and park events such as “Bring Your Tent and Come.”
