The shops on this street, which are owned by the General Directorate of Foundations, were leased by the Sivas Provincial Special Administration and restored in 2019 in accordance with the architectural style of the Divriği bazaar. The street’s most distinctive feature is that all businesses are run by women. A total of 12 female business owners operate there.
The street aims to keep alive the tradition of Bâciyân-ı Rûm (the Anatolian Women’s Union)—a women’s organization in Anatolia—and the Ahilik culture. Every Monday morning, before opening their shops, the businesswomen begin their day by reciting the traditional “Ahi Women’s Oath.” The street operates on a cooperative model that supports women’s economic independence.
