Eğriçimen Plateau

The Eğriçimen Plateau, nestled among the forests, lies within a valley that stretches from the southwest to the northwest. It is covered with pine forests and has numerous water sources. The water sources emerging from Şaşalağan Pass and Yedigözler merge to form a stream. This stream flows through the plateau. The plateau derives its name from the winding course of the stream that flows through it.

Boasting every shade of green, the Eğriçimen Plateau takes on a different beauty in every season. Surrounded by pine forests, the plateau is blanketed in spring with a green canopy dotted with yellow and white daisies. While the plateau is deserted in the winter months, it attracts migrants and picnickers in the summer. Nature lovers often compare the Eğriçimen Plateau to the Ayder Plateau in Trabzon. In addition to Eğriçimen, Koyulhisar is home to the Kengercik, Arpacık, Kalınpınar, Topalan, Sarıçiçek, and Söbüce highlands. Rich in highlands, the region serves as the city’s “lungs.”
