Zara Honey, produced in the high-altitude plateaus of the Zara district of Sivas and its surroundings, is one of Turkey’s most valuable and distinctive honeys. What makes this honey special is the rich flora of the region where it is produced and the traditional production methods used.
Due to its quality and uniqueness, Zara Honey was officially protected in 2021 by receiving a Geographical Indication registration.
Zara honey producers continue to use traditional and natural beekeeping methods passed down through generations. No chemical pesticides or additives are used.
Some beekeepers still use traditional “basket hives” or “old-style hives,” which help preserve the honey’s natural qualities and aroma.
