Ali Baba Mosque

It is a mosque in the Ali Baba neighborhood; the rear section of the mosque complex includes a mausoleum, a dervish lodge, and a fountain in front of it. Its endowment deed states that Küçük Ali Baba also had a school built next to the dervish lodge.

In Saim Savaş’s unpublished doctoral dissertation titled “A Study on the Religious, Social, and Economic Functions of the Ali Baba Zawiya Established in Sivas in the 16th Century,” it is noted that a mosque was built during the time of Büyük Ali Baba before the 1570s; that this mosque, mentioned during the periods of both Büyük and Küçük Ali Baba, was converted into a full-fledged mosque in 1714 by installing a minbar and appointing a khatib; and that, following the demolition of the old mosque, Küçük Ali Baba had the current place of worship rebuilt, including the mausoleum at the site of the congregation, which was constructed over the graves of his grandfather and father.

In the 1785s, Sheikh Feyzullah Efendi, the trustee of the waqf, had a minaret built for the structure that had been converted into a mosque in the 1714s.
