Built of cut stone, the caravanserai is large and spacious in volume and is characterized as a “Winter Caravanserai” with a fully enclosed roof. It is called Alacahan in reference to its black-and-white stone-masonry walls.
Housing important artifacts dating back to the Hittites, Seljuks, and Ottomans, the Alacahan Caravanserai—considered one of Sivas’s premier tourist attractions—resembles a museum with its displays of antique weapons, household items, and various artifacts.
