Established in 1939 under the name “Sivas Locomotive Workshop” to repair the steam locomotives and freight cars used by TCDD, the museum—located within the factory campus that currently operates under the name Türasaş (Tüdemsaş), houses a museum that displays a collection of 3,000 artifacts. The museum houses a wide variety of artifacts, ranging from prototype railcar models and various railcar parts to Ottoman-era railroad plaques and various historical musical instruments, as well as molds for the engine blocks of the “Devrim”—Turkey’s first domestically produced automobile—and historical photographs.
